KC Dirt Triber Jason Voss Captures First Overall at General Tire Vegas to Reno

KC Dirt Tribe Athlete Jason Voss Takes First Overall atJason Voss began his “Vegas to Reno” race facing over 70 fellow unlimited Trick Truck and Class 1500 cars at the Time Trials held Wednesday before the actual race. At the end of the day, he had laid down the fastest qualifying time to take the Team Ford “Pole Award” and the number one starting position. Jason used his clean air start to his full advantage by setting a commanding pace over the 535-mile long course across some of Nevada’s most challenging deserts and mountains to take the flag-to-flag victory and his second consecutive “Vegas to Reno” overall win.
Other notable KC Dirt Tribe Trick Truck racers finishing in the top 10 included Steve Strobel, 4th; Troy Herbst, 7th; and Cameron Steele, 10th.

In Class 7200 for the mini trick trucks, Jeff Horsley took the class win. Not far behind him was “Pistol” Pete Sohren who crossed the finish line for third in class. Long time KC Dirt Tribe racer Macrae Glass brought his bright yellow KC HiLiTES Ford F-150 in for the dominant Class 8000 win. It was a clean sweep in Class 6000 for the Trophylite trucks with P.J. Guglielmo coming in first, Ben Abatti second and Andrew McLeod third. The top two spots were separated by a mere 15 seconds. Running at flat out speeds and finishing well into the night, both P.J. and Ben had to rely heavily on their powerful KC HIDs to light up the course like daylight and avoid any potential hazards.   Steve Melton brought his Banning Motorsports car across the line for the Class 1100 victory. Team owner, Lee Banning, Sr. pulled out a third place podium finish in Class 1000. It was a one-two punch out in Class 1800 with Dwayne Reinert taking the win, followed by Brett Marshall for second.   Among the UTV classes, Matt Krimple captured the SR1 victory.
