Alumi Craft Racer Brock Heger Wins Everything At Pahrump 250

Alumi Craft Racer Brock Heger put an exclamation point on his 2017 season with a class 10 win at the Pahrump 250 race. The final race of the Best In The Desert series, it was Heger’s 4th win on the season and wrapped up both the class 10 points championship, and the rookie of the year title.

Heger is only 17 years old, but has been racing short course since he was 6. Car owner Eric Dollente approached him at the beginning of the season to drive his Alumi Craft class 10 car in the desert. Blazing fast in the Alumi Craft right out of the box, Heger won his first four races in a row.

Heger’s first race in the car was in the SNORE series where he took his first win. His next time behind the wheel was at the Best In The Desert series, (BITD) season opener in Parker, Arizona. Again, Heger was the first to the checkered flag, making his record two for two. He would go on to remain undefeated for the first three races of the BITD season, but none of those wins were as sweet as his victory at the Mint 400.

“Every race was a new experience for me,” said Heger, “People told me before the Mint that you can’t lose any time and still win. If I had any problems, I would be done. At mile 10 I got a flat tire and I just kept thinking that I had to prove everyone wrong. I drove flat out and came back to take the win.”

With the points championship, and rookie of the year title at stake, Heger knew he had a big challenge ahead of him in Pahrump. The Pahrump 250 course starts off in extremely rocky terrain before reaching the desert valley. Making a huge loop around the Armargosa Valley before returning to Pahrump and the finish, the final miles of the race traverse even more of the worst rocky terrain. As racers get close to town, they still have to make it through the roughest section of the course.

“I didn’t get a chance to pre-run the Pahrump race but I knew it would be rocky, and dusty,” Heger continued, “I knew it would be a long race, but it would go by quickly. I was careful in the rocks off the start but picked up the pace around race mile 100. As the competition began to have issues, and flat tires, I conserved my Alumi Craft and made it to the finish for the win. At the beginning of the season I was really excited about racing Eric’s Alumi Craft car. It’s a great platform and with Jake Velasco doing the prep work, I knew it was up to me, and I was willing to give it my all. They do all the hard work, I get to do the easy stuff.”

Brock Heger was able to step into an Alumi Craft class 10 car, and dominate in the Best In The Desert series. He did not have much desert racing experience, but was able to get comfortable, and start winning from day one. The performance provided by his meticulously crafted Alumi Craft car made him a contender in one of the most competitive classes in desert racing. Winning 4 races, and taking the championship was an incredible accomplishment. Doing it in his rookie season, and winning the Rookie of the Year title, puts Brock Heger on a whole other level. Whether you are competing in the desert, prerunning, or racing wheel to wheel on the track, Alumi Craft is committed to providing you with a competitive, safe and reliable vehicle that exceeds your expectations.
